What is FredSpeak?
FredSpeak helps you practise English through short lessons, quizzes, listening and optional pronunciation exercises.
Which English skills can I practise?
Grammar, Expressions, Pronunciation and Listening. Situations adds English for life and work.
Do I need an account to start?
No. You can practise as a Guest without creating a Free account.
What can Guests access?
The first published lesson of each module, including three required quizzes and an optional voice trial subject to the voice limits.
Where is my Guest progress saved?
In this browser only. Clearing site data, changing browser or using another device can remove or hide that progress.
Will my Guest progress transfer to Premium?
No. A new Premium profile starts from zero. Guest progress stays separate in the original browser.
What does Premium include?
All lessons, extra practice, speaking feedback, progress across devices and participation in the public leaderboard, subject to service limits.
How much does Premium cost?
Premium costs $9 USD per month or $69 USD per year. Applicable taxes and the final total are shown at checkout.
Does annual billing save money?
Yes. Twelve monthly payments total $108; the annual plan is $69, saving $39 over a year.
Do subscriptions renew automatically?
Monthly and annual plans renew at their stated intervals until cancelled. Check the final billing details at checkout.
How do I manage or cancel my Premium?
Log in and open your Premium account. Use its cancellation option to stop future renewals, or contact info@fredspeak.com if you need help.
What happens when Premium expires?
Your Premium results and rubies are retained, but access to Premium lessons stops. Any Guest practice remains separate.
Can I choose my English level?
Yes. Choose Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced. Each Learn skill remembers its own selected level.
Can Situations use a different level?
Situations is always Intermediate and does not have a level selector.
Do I have to answer correctly to complete a lesson?
You need to answer every required quiz. An incorrect answer still counts as completion and provides feedback.
Is speaking required to finish a lesson?
No. After the three required quizzes, speaking is optional. You can skip it and finish the lesson.
How many Guest voice analyses can I try?
One valid analysis per module in this browser, plus a shared limit of one per module/IP and three total/IP in any rolling 24 hours. Shared networks can share these limits.
Does a technical error use a voice trial?
A technical failure does not consume the trial. A valid analysis counts even if the pronunciation needs more practice.
What happens in Home pronunciation practice?
You pronounce a phrase into the microphone and request feedback. Theoretical pronunciation quizzes stay in Learn.
How long can a recording be?
Up to 15 seconds. The service also checks upload size and audio format.
Can I use FredSpeak on my phone?
The interface adapts to mobile and desktop. Recording needs a supported browser, HTTPS and microphone permission; capabilities vary by device.
Why is my microphone unavailable?
Check microphone permission and use an up-to-date browser on HTTPS. Another app or a device setting may also block recording.
What does the pronunciation score mean?
It is an automated estimate shown from 0 to 10. It is learning feedback, not a language certificate or a guarantee of fluency.
How do rubies work?
You earn one ruby the first time you complete an exercise. Repeating the same exercise does not earn another ruby.
Do repeat exercises count towards my weekly goal?
Yes. Valid repeats and voice analyses count towards your weekly goal, while rubies stay unique.
Who appears on the leaderboard?
Accounts with verified Premium results. Guest rubies stay local and are not ranked publicly; expired Premium results remain in the rankings.
Why do some phonemes show -%?
There is not enough assessed data for that sound yet. A percentage is shown after at least five assessed occurrences.
